Torotrak's TCVT (Toroidal Continuously Variable Transmission) technology is applicable to a wide variety of automotive applications in the key, high volume 'A', 'B' and 'C' segments of front wheel drive passenger vehicles.
TCVT provides significant advantages in fuel economy, emissions reduction and refined drive when compared to conventional transmissions, achieved through traction drive technology and weight reduction arising from the simple design and low parts count.
The TCVT concept is engineered around a Torotrak full toroidal traction drive variator as developed and proven in Torotrak's established IVT applications. However, in the TCVT the variator utilises only two rollers in each of the two cavities.
