The IVT is applicable to Front Wheel Drive (FWD) cars and a prototype has been successfully tested in a 2 litre transverse layout application (shown in the photo below).
There is an increasing demand for more powerful FWD cars, the Torotrak IVT can meet this demand as it has no upper torque limit, unlike many other forms of CVT.
