Torotrak to attend Low Carbon Vehicle event with Wrightbus,
Advanced Propulsion Centre & the Proving Factory
Torotrak will be attending the Cenex 2014 Low Carbon Vehicle event at Millbrook this 10th -11th September, supporting several key technology partners, as well as joining a seminar session with UKTI.
Firstly Torotrak staff will be present on the Wrightbus stand, along with display hardware of the new Flybrid KERS for buses. The fully mechanical flywheel-based hybrid system has been developed with Wrightbus for their class-leading StreetLite midi bus, and is currently undergoing proving ground testing. This show will be the first public exhibition for the Flybrid bus KERS, which will be found outside on the steering pad.
“The Cenex event is a great opportunity for us to talk about the huge progress we’ve made in making hybrid technology for buses more affordable,” says Torotrak Programme Manager, Brian Donohoe. “The Flybrid KERS unit is highly efficient at capturing the available braking energy, and crucially doesn’t require any special infrastructure at the bus depot, or high voltage equipment. This will result in good return on investment, and also stable resale values, which all help fleet hybridisation make better financial sense for operators.”
In addition to this, Torotrak will have a presence with the Proving Factory area, showcasing their engagement with the UK-based manufacturing consortium. With Flybrid KERS and V-Charge products both potential candidates for the Proving Factory’s medium-volume manufacturing capabilities in the future, both products will be on show in the extensive exhibit area in Hall 1 of the event. Torotrak staff will be present on this stand and ready to answer your questions on these core Torotrak technologies.
Finally, visitors to the show will be able to find out more about the recently announced project between Torotrak and JCB, which was granted supportive funding by the government-backed Advanced Propulsion Centre. The stand in Hall 3 (C3-37) will host an engaging display telling the story of its first round of funding competition winners, and invite potential new partners to meet there.
Torotrak Sales and Product Development Director Jon Hilton will also have a place in the seminar programme of the two-day event, speaking as part of UK Trade & Investment’s session on The Business of Low Carbon Vehicles. Hilton speaks at 11:25am on the 11th September, presenting a case study from the perspective of the technology innovator.
