17/03/03 - Torotrak plc appoints commercial director

Torotrak plc, the Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) system development company, is pleased to announce the appointment of James Batchelor as commercial director. He will join the board from 31 March 2003.

James joins from Trafficmaster Automotive where he was responsible for business development, marketing and sales. In managing the key relationships at all levels in car companies he was successful in selling new technology into the automotive sector. Before that his experience at BMW included managing international, inter-company, collaborative ventures.He will report directly to chief executive Dick Elsy, and lead the business development team in its principle objective of securing production commitments from car companies. Having developed the IVT to an advanced stage, Torotrak is now actively engaged in the commercialisation of the technology. The company’s strategy remains to achieve market launch of the IVT by the car companies and their tier 1 suppliers, and it continues to work closely with these customers to achieve that.
